DAY RATING:

THREE THINGS:
TAPED UP. Having 101 uses is the hallmark of everyone’s favorite binding agent which can be applied in a fix. Use duct tape as kindling, a band-aid, a waterproofer, a makeshift patch and dozens of other options. Make a few wraps off the main roll around a Bic pen tube to provide a compact and packable stash of this silver wonder.
CORDED. Parachute cord also has a number of uses in the wild – from lashing together branches to make a lean-to, to forming a snare or hoist – and can be easily purchased in a 50-foot length formed into an easily-worn wrist-bracelet or other compact formation.
DIRECT. A compass works when cell phones lose service and GPS batteries fail. Knowing the basics of direction and orienteering, along with the location of major landmarks, roads and rivers in the area you’re hunting will help you find your way out when you’re lost – with the help of a compass.
Stay Sharp!
