THREE THINGS
MARK IT. The NDG&F has announced tentative opening dates for the 2019 hunting seasons. In case you were wondering, Pheasant Season is slated to start on Oct. 12, as late as it can get under new statute.
KNOT IT. For better horizontal presentations under the ice with jigs and other lures that require such a profile, make sure your knot rests at the 12 o’clock position on the hook eye. Check it often, and especially after each fish caught, to ensure the best presentation.
THIN IT. On these warmer days, check the thinner grasses adjacent to deeper thermal cover for pheasants and other upland game. South-facing hills will also hold birds looking to move about and take in what warmth the sun provides this time of year. Watch for rangy birds and keep quiet!
Stay Sharp!
