NEW PATTERN. We swap sub-zero temperatures today for more snow, as winter’s totals continue to mount. Relief is in sight however as bitterness fades over the coming week, with the lows not as low, and highs returning to more facilitative temps for ice fishing and other outdoor activities.

DAY RATING:

THREE THINGS:
PERSPECTIVE. When you went through a week well below zero, a week right around the donut seems almost pleasant. We hover around that mark for much of the next seven days without any super-cold slaps lurking. While hesitant to say we’ve turned the corner, we might be starting around that bend?
TURKEY CALL. The NDG&F reminds hunters that spring wild turkey applications are due by Feb. 13. The season runs from Apr. 13 to May 19 and applications can be made online through the department’s licensing page.
CRUSH IT. Looking for another way to get better at trap shooting? Do some weight lifting. Instead of dumbells, practice mounting your gun 25 times a night for 25 straight nights during this off season, being certain to check your stance, shouldering and cheek connection. The process builds muscle memory and helps cement a repeated procedure as second nature. You’ll be better trap shooter – and field shooter – as a result.
Stay Sharp.
