The Peluso Report: An End in Sight?

The forecast for the next 10 days has me a little depressed. It’s looking like my open water days of fishing for walleyes on the Missouri River are coming to an end.

Most of my fishing time has been spent on the Missouri River near Bismarck, and despite the upcoming weather, hopefully I’ll get a few more days in yet.

The fishing on the river has been decent, but you definitely have to work for them. It seems for the walleyes right now that you need to cycle through a lot of spots in order to catch your fish. It also seems you seldom catch your fish in the same spot two days in a row.

Keeping things simple with jigs and minnows is still the presentation of choice. The fish also don’t seem to be picking any one particular depth. I’ve caught them deep and I’ve caught them shallow.

Again, I do have a couple more trips yet this week before the weather comes in. My fingers are crossed we will get some warmer weather yet this fall!
