The start of the ice fishing season on Devils Lake has been up and down thus far. The ice has been slow to build, creating some tough situations for us as guides. Very limited would be a great way to describe things, in terms of access. Up here on Devils Lake we are finding fishable ice. We are also finding some extremely troublesome areas.
You definitely need to be careful! Once you find fishable ice you may or may not find fish that want to cooperate. When we have, the bite has been very short lived because we have been unable to venture around looking for more fish. We just need some cooler temperatures to build more ice.
It will happen and I’m guessing in the very near future things are really going to ramp up.
Until then I will continue to bring you updates on my social media accounts on ice fishing central products and give you bits and pieces about how the fishing is going.
Honestly, if you are not an absolute diehard ice angler just be patient. No fish is worth the risk!
