What a week of walleye fishing we’ve had out here on the Missouri River near Bismarck! I had guide and tournament partner Jason Feldner with me this past week and between guiding and pre-fishing for the AIM Pro Walleye Tour tournament, we logged a lot of hours on the water.
Jason and I were supposed to fish the tournament together. However, I had obligations with a couple of guide trips so we called in my Big Muddy tournament partner Gene Merck. The two of them stuck an impressive card of 5 walleyes weighing 43.65 pounds to take home the 1st place title. Congrats boys on a job well done!
With that said, a lot is changing. The walleyes are definitely in full spawn mode right now and a ton of fish are in limbo. When this happens, they really start to get into a funky mood.
I think we will still see a lot of bigger walleyes caught this week pre-fishing and guiding, but they will certainly be a little more difficult to catch. The males however should go bonkers here making for some really fun fish catching days on the way.
Good times are on the way and the best part is you can catch them with whatever presentation you like to fish!
