COOLED OFF YET? The second warmest month of the year for N.D. starts off with a dip below average as today’s last shot of summer will give way to rain and highs barely cracking 70 tomorrow. The roughly 50% of N.D. hunters who didn’t get drawn might need this time to cool off, and make other autumn plans.

DRAW! In case you missed it (when the site was down for a couple hours yesterday) Deer Firearm Lottery Results are up with the North Dakota Game and Fish Department. This year, 54,500 tags will be issued to November gun hunters, with just over one-half of all applicants successful in the first round of this year’s drawing.
WHAT’S LEFT? About 2,800 antlerless deer firearm licenses remain after the first round of the 2017 lottery. Only residents who applied in the initial lottery can apply for the leftover tags. Applications will be accepted starting Aug. 8, and will close Aug. 30.
C WHAT!? Realtree gives N.D. a deer hunting grade of C in their 2017 ratings when all factors – including land access, tag availability, and quality bucks – are considered. The big pro “saving” the state is an early archery opener which gives the opportunity for bowhunters to harvest a buck in velvet. This year’s Archery Season starts at noon on Fri. Sept. 1.
