GOOD MORNING! Welcome to the (almost) weekend. Though you might want to start yours early as today will be your best bet for some time on the water, and certainly it will be the driest day of the stretch as rain rolls in again tomorrow. In the meantime, get out, take a look around and get ready for the fun to come in this fall’s hunting seasons in Today’s Three Things.

EDGE HOUR. 8:00 – 9:00PM. With clouds building in and a nice evening on tap, the hour leading up to sunset will be the time to get on fish. Watch the influence of the full moon over the next couple of nights and both dawn and dusk will boast overlaps with moonset and moonrise.
BROAD SWATHS. Check out Dakota Edge’s story on the rise in popularity of expandable broadheads for bow hunting. Stretching far beyond the width of standard fixed-blade models, these mechanical options are more reliable than in previous seasons, providing a powerful option for archery hunters.
SIRI, WHEN DOES HUNTING START? Yeah, hard to believe but the early goose season opens in less than two weeks. Get caught up on all you need to know about this early management season and what you need to get in on all of the August action with the NDG&F’s weekly webcast.
‘BOUT THE SAME DROUGHT. There wasn’t much improvement in Thursday’s release of the Drought Monitor, with a slight increase in dry conditions throughout south-central ND. We’ll wait to see what impact Wednesday’s precip had on the prolonged conditions in next week’s issuance, but the southwest went virtually untouched by rain this week once again. Bummer.
