STOP BEING CRANKY…and get cranking! It’s Friday afterall, and things are warming back up for the downward slide out of August, so a crankbait bite just might be in order for the next couple of weeks. We’re looking forward to a warm start to the weekend, with a slight dip on Saturday.

EDGE HOUR. 6:00 – 7:00PM. Tie the growing strength of moonset with glasslike calm conditions for an enjoyable hour on the water as you kick off your weekend. The power of the new moon will grow over the next couple of days – it’ll be so strong, we hear it will knock out the sun on Monday!
PREDATOR PROGRAMMING. Check out this week’s webcast from the North Dakota Game & Fish Dept., previewing all the opportunities for coyote hunting in the Peace Garden State. Growing in popularity, predator hunting is becoming a big-time winter sport for a cunning quarry.
SLIGHT RELIEF. Recent rains have made a slight impact in the southern stretch of the state, as this week’s drought monitor animation shows. We’re still a good deal behind, but the recent wet pattern experienced this week in the south-central portion of the state should help some more in next week’s report.
ELK AGREEMENT. In cooperative news, the state of North Dakota and the Standing Rock Sioux Tribe have inked a memorandum of understanding on the creation of a new elk hunting unit, and management of the big game species in it. Perhaps it will serve as an example for finding solutions between state-and-tribal management of outdoor opportunities elsewhere.
