Daily Edge for Fri. Dec. 8

FAIR TO MIDDLIN.  Gusts rise again today, before setting the scene for a near perfect winter weekend.  Saturday’s light breeze and mid-30s, will be followed by a slightly windier and warmer Sunday.  You’ll have some melt so keep those feet dry no matter where you’re hunting this weekend.  We talk about current trends in today’s Three Things.

THREE THINGS.

ABOVE AVERAGE.  High temps over the next week are forecast to be 7 to 15 degrees above average, not lending to the fast formation and strengthening of ice around the region and .  Tread lightly in those northern tier lakes, or those small sloughs that froze up in November but have been subjected to wild warm weather swings in the last few weeks. No deep deep freezes are showing up anytime soon – so we wait.

ICE REGS PREVIEW.  Agents of the NDG&F talk ice fishing and related regulations in this week’s webcast, keeping you in the know of all the changes between seasons and in relation to this particular biennium.  Check out all the news and stay on top of all the requirements.

UP FOR DEBATE.  While you wait for first (or better) ice, check out In-Fisherman’s listing of the Top 10 Ice Fishing Lures of All Time.  How many of their picks are in your tacklebox?  How many of your favorites were left off?   The Forage Minnow makes it but the Buckshot Rattlespoon doesn’t?  That’s our beef…what’s yours?  These lists are fun time-killers and make for fun arguments over coffee.  Also where’s the Genz Worm?

Stay Sharp!
