Daily Edge for Tue. Jan. 30

READY, SET, MOON!  We’re jazzed up for tonight as the blue moon rises and hits full just before sunrise tomorrow, falling into earth’s shadow for a lunar eclipse.  We talk about that and more, in today’s Three Things.

SUPER-BLUE-BLOOD-MOON.  Naw, it isn’t Cardi B’s new song.  It’s that rare phenomenon you won’t get to see for a while (the last was 35 years ago).  The combination of the full moon at its closest point to earth this year being the second one of the month and subject to a lunar eclipse – which gives it a deep red hue as the shadow of earth moves over it – starting at 4 am tomorrow, has created a very rare celestial occurrence.  There may be some cloud cover, with forecasts of 45-55% for Bismarck during the 4am – 8am time window, but there’s a good chance we’ll see this happen.

KEEP YOUR NOSE CLEAN.  Tough to say during cold and flu season, but the G&F is always on the lookout for those exploiting our natural resources and for some common violations.  In this week’s installment of North Dakota Outdoors, Mike Anderson shares the more frequent citations issued by the agency in 2017 and provides resources to help hunters and anglers know the rules and where to report violators.

HOW FESTIVE.  Don’t forget that Pheasant Fest will be back in the upper Midwest again this year, with the event taking place in Sioux Falls, SD on Feb. 16, 17 & 18.  Featuring seminars on habitat, food plots, pollinators and more along with a dog aisle that you could honestly fill your kids’ day with, the event showcases all of the great aspects of the Habitat Organization.

Stay Sharp!
