SUMMER SPEED UP. There’s lots happening as we reach the end of July, and far from slowing down, the dog days of the season are red hot (except the weather?) with fun news items, which we discuss in today’s Three Things.

ALMOST FALL-LIKE. It’ll be hardly hot the rest of this week, as the cool edge of a stalled high brings Canadian air down on its leading side. The pattern is a bit stuck due to a large blocking high out east, and there will be hints of autumn and good sleeping weather over the next few nights.
SPEED GOATS. The lottery process is underway for North Dakota’s 2018 Pronghorn season. Apply online at the G&F website for a chance at one of the 1,075 licenses for an autumn which has seen about 250% more licenses issued than last year, thanks to a mild winter and closed seasons prior to 2017.
BUCKET BRIGADE. Running’s (a sponsor) will be having its annual bucket sale this Friday and Saturday, discounting 15% on all the outdoors (and other) stuff you can cram into a five gallon pail, with some limited exceptions. You know what fits well in a bucket? Crankbaits…and lots of them!
