ARCH RIVALS. There are some great rivalries in the outdoors, and some that have become best of friends (?) in the brand world. We look back on an era that was and where we are now in today’s Three Things.

RAPALA v. STORM. Back in the day the choice was Shad Rap or Thundercrank. Now both the Rapala and Storm brands fly under the same banner of the Rapala VMC company, as corporate consolidation even took hold in the lure industry.
CABELA’S v. BASS PRO. In the advent of internet ordering, two retail giants stood out as options – Cabela’s and Bass Pro Shops. Now with a merger complete and management of Cabela’s taken over by Johnny Morris’ monster, you’re really getting your jigs and Frogs from the same company! (You’ll even note the same “Fall Into Savings” media on both sites today!)
BENELLI v. BERETTA. In the shootout between these top two field gun brands, you might be surprised to learn that Beretta Holdings owns Benelli and its Franchi and Stoeger brands as well. Beretta Holdings also owns the Tikka brand of popular rifles.
