FAST MOVING. We’re already into the final stretch of the first weekend of firearms deer season with lots of good reports from around the state of moving deer, despite less-than-ideal conditions including continued wind today. We look ahead to the week to come for some good hunting days and check out veterans’ celebrations in the outdoors.

DAY RATING:

THREE THINGS:
UP & DOWN. The forecast for the week has us rebounding from the cold stretch by Tuesday, with highs heading up into the 40s for some mid-week snow melting. Watch for a calm stretch from tomorrow into Wednesday before one-day winds blow through on Thursday. Plan your hunts accordingly!
RETIRED & ACTIVE. Did you know that many states offer free or discounted licenses in the outdoors to both veteran and active duty military members? In North Dakota resident members of the armed forces deployed elsewhere can also get firearms deer tags without participating in the lottery. Thank you for your service!
HEART & SOUL. A recent great segment on CBS This Morning highlighted Soul River, a charity started by Chad Brown, a returning Navy veteran with PTSD who turned his struggles into an outdoor connection which he then used to help other military members and inner city youth discover the peace that flows in the open waters of the outdoors.
Stay Sharp!
