BIG FAST! For those of you saving up your calories for the big feast, today’s big fast can be buoyed by some outdoor exercise – either walking for deer or upland game. Alternatively, ice options are rapidly opening, including darkhouse spearing. We talk about that and more in today’s Three Things.

DAY RATING:
THREE THINGS:
CHECK POINTS. For many, it’s over the river and through the woods to grandma’s house for the back half of this week. Odds are there will be a little deer hunting mixed in as well as we enter “Desperation Weekend” and the final days of the firearms deer season. Good luck to all making final preparations for this last ditch effort!
SPEAR POINTS. Darkhouse spearers are reminded to register online with the NDG&F, as the darkhouse spearing season now starts with ice up. Most lakes in the state are open to spearing, with a handful of restricted waters, and this year marks the first season of ice up being the start date for these opportunities.
ON POINT. Is there anything more exciting in upland than watching a pointing dog hold a rooster in check? Nah, we don’t think so. This weekend will provide good opportunities to get back after roosters (presuming you’re done with deer) with moderate winds and highs in the 20s. Also perfect for walking off your Thanksgiving turkey!
Stay Sharp!
