ALL DOWNHILL.   We’ve passed the summer solstice and are headed for a week of warming as we coast into the season.  We cover a long-billed bird, a long-snouted fish and our long awaited return to heat in today’s Outdoors Roundup.

OUTDOORS ROUNDUP:

TAKE THE BILL.  The long-billed curlew is detailed by the NDG&F in this week’s North Dakota Outdoors web short.  With curling bills of up to nine inches, the duck-sized bird is one of the state’s most unique shorebirds and is a species of concern in ND due to declining populations.

ROPE IT.  Looking to tangle with some gar in the backwaters?  Tie up a few rope flies or jigs and get casting.  With their super-bony snout, it’s tough to put a hook into their heads, so tangle their teeth with the right rope material in a setting that works for you, thanks to this classic from In-Fisherman.

WARMING WEEK.  The heat is on as things become more summerlike over the next seven days.  After some wind today, things begin to steadily climb in the temperature department, while some instability returns later in the week with a chance for rain and t’storms.
