ROUGH LOOKING.  Have you ever noticed that well-chewed soft plastic, or a particularly beat-up fly or streamer catches more fish?  The wear and tear on a lure signals its popularity with fish, but also suggests that pristine lures straight out of the plastic and photo-worthy flies on the vise may catch more anglers than fish.

SIGHT-IN SEASON.  As we make the turn around the July Fourth holiday, it’s time to start thinking about deer season (really, does anyone stop?).  Get those rifles ready now and run a number of shells through them throughout the coming months, to be sure you’re on and ready for November.

LISTED.  The US Fish & Wildlife Service manages an online database for endangered or threatened species by state.  Currently, nine show up from North Dakota, including the migratory whooping crane the piping plover and the pallid sturgeon.
