RRREV IT UP! This weekend is going to be great! With warm temperatures, light winds, and mostly dry conditions until tomorrow night, it’ll be one of those stretches you want to bottle up and save for January. We go around the horn (and talk about horns) in today’s R-themed Outdoors Roundup.

OUTDOORS ROUNDUP:
RAP IT UP. The Report All Poachers (RAP) auction is scheduled for Sat. Aug. 24 at the Capital Ice Complex. Many hunting and fishing items will be up for bid, including some high-end shotguns like the Beretta Silver Pigeon and more. All items are confiscated from poachers and other wildlife regulation violators and funds are used to continue the RAP tip line and education programs.
ROLLIN’ If you’re jammed up against shore, or just looking for a quick reset with the fly rod, use a roll cast. A great video tutorial on the roll cast comes from Bum Cast on YouTube. Like all fly casting, it requires some practice, but it’s easily mastered.
RAM HORNS. When bighorn sheep rams reach maturity, they develop what’s known as the “Four Year Ring” in their horns, typically brought on by their shift in energy toward mating. This marking and the size of the horn helps determine age on the hoof, according to goHunt.com
