OUTDOORS ROUNDUP:

PLOTS UPDATE. The NDG&F Dept. shares updates on the Private Land Open to Sportsmen (PLOTS) program in this week’s installment of North Dakota Outdoors.  For fall 2019, there are 791,000 acres open to hunters as part of the program which has grown 30,000 acres over 2018 and nearly 55,000 over 2017.

HEAT MAP.  The USDA shares Conservation Reserve Program enrollment through Feb. 2019 in the form of a map which lays out the program’s acres county-by-county throughout the U.S.  North Dakota remains one of the more colored states in the country, as this year’s general sign-up for CRP wrapped yesterday.

SMALL TRACTS.  The NDSU Extension has tips on preparing a pollinator planting in smaller areas – including your own backyard.  For the benefit of bees, butterflies, birds and other pollinators, these gardens can help with populations of these important species in your area.
