OUTDOORS ROUNDUP:
BIG SOFTIES. Some incredible video from the NDG&F Dept. details the cool features on the state’s two softshell turtle species found predominantly in the Missouri River system. Learn more about these neat creatures that are way different from the other turtles in the state in this week’s North Dakota Outdoors video short.
OILCAN. As you’re going through your fishing gear, getting it ready for storage, remember to check under spinning reel spools for line particles and dirt and gently clean the pin with a small brush and some oil grease to keep them in good shape for next season.
BAG IT UP. A Ziploc bag works wonders in the field, especially during this wet stretch. Pack a quart or sandwich size bag in a pocket or gear bag and slip phones and other small electronics in it to make sure they stay dry as you walk along. Add a strip of Styrofoam if you’re in a duck boat to help the bag float, just in case.
