LAST DAY! November goes out like a lion as snow and wind whip up dangerous conditions for your Saturday. Hunker down inside with a few cool projects to get ready for your ice season, which we cover in today’s Outdoors Roundup.

ELBOW GREASE. Ice reels need love too! Make sure to remove the spool and inspect the pin and gears below, gently brushing out any debris, dirt and gunk with a soft brush. Add a drop of reel oil to keep them spinning this season.
BLADES OF GLORY. Nothing slows down an ice season like dull blades, especially with expanding electric options. Make sure that whether you have an auger with a chipper blade or dual blades, or even a combination of both, they’re sharp and ready to go. Deals abound this time of year.
PATCH IT UP. For those older ice houses, now’s a good time to inspect tarps and seals and make sure that there aren’t any holes in the fabric covering. If there are, patch it up with provided materials, order it from the manufacturer, or at the very least, slap some duct tape to tide you over.
