OUTDOORS ROUNDUP:
COYOTE CALL. The NDG&F has released the coyote catalog for this winter, designed to connect landowners and furbearer hunters this winter season. Hunters and operators can connect via this channel, providing their contact information to set up furbearer hunting opportunities.
FINAL TALLY. As evidenced by the countless fields still standing, a great deal of unharvested crop remains. The final USDA tally of the season has corn harvest at 43 percent and 60 percent of sunflowers down. It is likely what is left will remain in the ground providing cover and food for birds and big game until next spring.
TIED UP. Check out DEO’s Nick Simonson in the Winter 2020 Pheasants Forever Journal of Upland Conservation, where he shares his tips for getting into fly tying, fly fishing and using rooster pheasant feathers for a dozen great patterns. You can always find great tackle-crafting articles on DEO’s Bench to Bank series page as well.
