The secret is out! North Dakota fishing right now is absolutely bonkers pretty much everywhere you wet a line. As most of you who follow my reports know, I’m currently up here on Devils Lake, and it’s no secret this water is always a top producer in the world of walleyes, and great fishing in general.
Tactics on Devils Lake for walleyes are nothing fancy right now. Follow the wind and pick your favorite and get after it. There are lots of walleyes, pike, and white bass to keep you busy. I will say this, the upper lakes above the main Devils Lake and Pelican Lake basins are really on fire right now.
Things also sound like they are heating up throughout the entire Lake Sakakawea region. It is a little better way out west towards New Town. It also sounds like the eastern edge is kicking out some good fishing as well.
Along with Devils and Sakakawea, the Mighty Missouri River near and south of Bismarck all the way down into the Lake Oahe region is producing good numbers of fish, simply troll the shorelines in those eight-to-fifteen-foot depths.
I’m still up on Devils Lake until mid-June. I’ll be headed to Indian Hills Resort on Lake Sakakawea after that for about a month or so. I have a few scattered dates available for both waters, but not a lot. There is more availability later August and September. Get ahold of me if you are looking to fish!
