When it comes to catfishing on the Red River, nothing has changed in terms of water river levels, but I believe I have pinpointed just about where these fish are hanging out.

Going back to the really low water year of 2021, I noticed while imaging for hours that catfish were stacking up in locations where they would when the water is very high. Last week I started concentrating on those areas – and wouldn’t you know it – the fish were there! These locations are deeper inside bends with nearly no current. This makes no sense, but it is how it is.

Like last week, fish that deeper water and give the spot a solid 45 minutes. If you hit the right spot you can spend more time there and get some nice fish. I have found some locations that I can sit on for over two hours and pick up nice fish. Shallow flats near structure also will have some fish in or near them.

All baits are working right now. Sucker and goldeye have been best for me. Again, bring a back anchor, the lack of current can get boats swinging with very little wind, north wind in particular.
