MOVING FORWARD. Winds kick up a bit today, blowing us toward deer season next weekend. In preparation for the “grandaddy of ’em all” we get ready with some G&F Q&A, some cleaning tips and a reminder to get orange, even if bowhunting once the gun season starts in today’s Three Things

DEER Q&A. The NDG&F Department has its annual question-and-answer session posted online, with updates based on small shifts in regulations, CWD concerns and other changes for the 2018 gun season. Check it out and be in the know as to how these changes (and some old standbys) will affect your hunting.
SAGEN ADVICE. For those gearing up for this year’s firearms deer season, a Sagen saw is a must. Designed to prevent puncturing the underlying organs while sawing through the pelvic bone, the sagen saw makes short work of the sternum as well, for fast cleaning of deer in the field.
BLAZE UP. All hunters – including bowhunters – must don the required blaze orange during firearms season. So make sure to pack that vest or jacket and hat if you plan to take the bow stand to start the season next Friday before it kicks off at noon.
